DAILY UPDATE #27 – AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND 2018

Uluru & Kata Kjuta

The pictures just don’t do justice to the beauty and scenery of this part of Australia will have to wait due to the internet connection, but do we have an update for today!  With under 3 hours left Toronto time for today, here’s what we did:

Kata Kjuta

We had an extremely early morning start to our day to drive out west of Uluru to Kata Kjuta.  This is the rock formation that is also called the Olgas.  When we arrived at Kata Kjuta we were the only group for the morning walk into Walpa Gorge.  After a few more stops we returned for a delicious lunch and a refreshing afternoon nap, sleep.

Uluru + Sunset = Awesome

We went out for sunset viewing of Uluru and it was gorgeous.  It was easy for us to find a quiet spot for the two of us to enjoy watching the setting sun change Uluru’s colour.

Field of Lights

This art installation is a massive field (over 7 football fields) containing 50,000 LED lights.  They change colour, they are at different heights and angles.  Something truly wonderful to walk through as dusk gave way to night.

Finally, to make you wait for the full post, is about our accommodation.  It was extraordinary.  Service was top notch, food was excellent, and both of us were sad we didn’t stay for three nights.  More on that soon.

We are heading to Sydney today where we will try something new — be in the same location for one week!

I can’t wait to see the pictures!
Did you have a guide to point out the southern constellations?

    • Your comment was too quick! I just put a couple pictures up from Uluru & Kata Kjuta. It’s beautiful in this part of Australia.
