2018 – Part 49 Journey to Brisbane
We departed our apartment Monday morning. After spending three nights in Mooloolaba, it was time to head to Brisbane to be close to the airport for our early morning flight on Tuesday.
Trip Plan
It was a easy drive from Mooloolaba south to Brisbane. As we left late in the morning, I elected that we take the secondary roads for just over half of the drive. This ensured that we would not be rushed, and after the extremely long drive on Friday I was content to move at a slower speed. There wasn’t any concerns nor slowdowns and we were able to get from Mooloolaba to Brisbane without any delays. Now during our drive…
Cool Cars
During our long weekend in Sunshine coast I snapped a few pictures of some of the cool cars on the road. I didn’t get a picture of all of them, however it is encouraging to see appreciation for automobiles is alive and well in Australia.
Glass Mountains
During our drive, the landscape inland invited us to check it out. Without being in a rush to get to Brisbane, we headed inland, and after a stop we got to a lookout.
First up, the view from the former forest fire lookout:
And then, the many signs at the lookout about the view:
And finally signs about the history and geography of the area:
Given our mutual level of energy, or rather lack of it, we didn’t go for a hike to explore any more of the Glass Mountains area. instead we returned to our vehicle and completed our drive to Brisbane. She located a Dim Sum restaurant where we were able to have a late lunch. The benefit of arriving near the end of the lunch period is that the restaurant isn’t busy and we didn’t feel rushed to let the restaurant turn the table quickly.
From here it was time to check-in to our next hotel in preparation for an early morning flight the next day.
