2023.09 San Francisco (Part 2) – Hampton inn san jose
Why didn’t we stay with relatives when we visited them? Simple, a lack of space (not everybody has spare rooms waiting for visitors), and they had a young one who was dictating their hours and lack of sleep. We gladly gave them space and I chose a straight-forward hotel for our stay, a Hampton Inn in San Jose.
Hampton Inn San Jose
This hotel shares its parking lot with another hotel (Holiday Inn), is a short distance away from highway 101, and the San Jose airport. Once inside they had a decent sized lobby. Check-in was quick and the room we had in another Hampton Inn during a road trip in 2021 (that somehow I didn’t post here).
Here’s a picture of the breakfast area one morning. The exit to the lobby is the door partially covered by the column on the right, and off to the left is the breakfast buffet area.
Amenities at Hampton Inn hotels aren’t extensive, however offer many important things: consistently clean rooms, easy to find, park, and cart your belongings up to your room.
Almost all of the Hampton Inns we’ve stay at have a swimming pool and this hotel was no different. We didn’t make the time to test it out:
Breakfast
Another consistent feature of Hampton Inn is the complimentary breakfast. Even with the pictures below the selection is decent. Coffee, tea, juice, water, and milk are available beverages. For hot food, one can make own your waffles, and there is a selection, ranging between 2-4 items that rotate. For example one day omelettes were available, the next day scrambled eggs were offered. There are a few cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, bread, muffins, and bagels to fill out your options.
For us the food was just fine to get our day started, and the hot water was always appreciated as she would make her morning tea. On a couple days we made hot chocolate to-go before we left the hotel. We liked it so much that we sought out the brand of hot chocolate in the grocery store to bring home (it’s a brand not available in Canada).
I completely forgot to take pictures of the room, however it was almost a perfect mirror image of the room we had a couple years ago. Upon entering there was a bar fridge and sink. Then the main room was half living area with a couch, and a table with the TV acting as a partial separator of the space. The sink was separate from the toilet and shower enclosure. This was handy as the mirror wouldn’t be fogged up from having a shower!
Overall, this hotel was just fine for what we required during our stay.
