2023.09 San Francisco (Part 3)

We didn’t spend a lot of time in San Francisco proper, but we certainly made sure to spend the little time we did at one of the city’s biggest tourist attractions, the Fisherman’s Wharf.

Fisherman’s Wharf

This place is a major draw.  We went down during the US Labour Day long weekend, and combined with excellent weather, the number of people were massive.  Finding parking in the area was an exercise in patience.  Once we did find a place to park, we made the short walk to the waterfront.  We could easily see Alcatraz in the bay.

There was a market also along the waterfront with no shortage of food and snack options along with misc. clothing and other items.

Our timing at Fisherman’s Wharf was close enough to dinner that we stopped and grabbed a meal.   Here’s a slideshow from our meal:

After dinner we ended going through a very large candy shop, here’s a slideshow of pictures from it, including the fact that there was an upper level to the store.

By the time we finished walking around the candy store night had settled in, and most stores had, or were in the process of closing.  We returned to our vehicles and headed back to the hotel.

On the way out of the city, before getting to the interstate, I did spot one of the driver-less vehicles.  This one was the third or fourth in a roll coming from the sideroad.  Fortunately for us, they weren’t joining our road, instead the intersection was odd as they were just turning right around the building.

Shopping in the bay area

We did make time to stop in a nearby mall, along with a Trader Joe’s during our visit.  We even came across a store that billed itself as an international store that had a few interesting items available.  Here’s a selection of things that caught my attention:
