DAILY UPDATE #29 – AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND 2018

Rainy Sydney

The weather that delayed our flight into the city continued today.  That and combined with no sense of urgency we’ve had an enjoyable Sunday.

Happy mother’s day

For North America & Australia, the second Sunday in May is Mother’s Day.  Now, let me explain the picture.  In addition to our usual two, the other two mini-figures represent just two of the many facets that any mother has to juggle.  The dragon in the background represents those times when your mom comes across a little more forceful.  Remember when you waited to the last moment to complete housework, homework, or drag your heels before any appointment or meeting?  That persona.
Obviously, the Wonder Woman mini-figure represents what moms truly are — super heroes as they have to juggle a constant onslaught.  Everyday.

Productive Morning

Even though my cold has slowed me, we had a productive morning.  We found an excellent breakfast place just around the corner from us, and it was outstanding.  Amber quietly joked “I think we can return to this during the week.”

Next up was some groceries.  We have a kitchenette, allowing us to be our own chefs, so long as the food can be served refrigerated, room temperature, or heated by a microwave.  We headed to a nearby grocery store and picked up food for lunch and snacks for a few days.  (To our moms:  Yes we got salad, fruits, and yogurt… in addition to some junk food that jumped in our shopping basket)

Random Flamingos on our morning errand run

After that we returned to the hotel we did our final cycles of laundry.  With clean clothes for the remainder of the trip we celebrated our successful morning by having a nap.  With the rolling rain clouds throughout the day it was easy to stay indoors.  However, my desire to go out trumped that, and we made a short walk to plan our Wednesday lunch.  (Hint: we’re going to watch a Canadian)

For the evening it’s time to plan our week in Sydney, and maybe watch the start of the F1 Spanish Grand Prix that starts late this evening here.

  1. Oh my and I thought you were the perfect son-in-law. I don’t even know if it recorded at home because since we got taken over by Rogers I can no longer check 2 weeks out. Please don’t tell me any results.

    • Don’t worry I didn’t find the right channel, however F1 Twitter feed is much better now, and you can watch highlights very soon after the race ends.
