2025.10 UK & More – Hilton Garden Inn Manchester

While making our return from “The NORTH” towards the Isle of Wight, we spent a second night enroute.  This evening’s stop was in Manchester at our second Hilton Garden Inn that was attached to a sporting venue.  This one was at Old Trafford cricket grounds.

Location

Location is part of the title, “Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Emirates Old Trafford”.  Parking was easy as there was no match occurring on the cricket grounds.  I can only guess how busy this place is during match days.

We checked-in quickly and were informed that our room was in the “new wing” of the hotel.  Not sure what that meant we proceeded to our room.  The “new wing” is an extension of the hotel over more of the playing field.  Here’s what the hallway looked like while making the long walk towards our room:

After passing a few hospitality areas for the grounds we eventually arrived at our room.  Roughly, the hotel has two sections where the original section houses the entrance, check-in, and in the new area has the restaurant.

Room

Without any sporting events occurring, we were upgraded to a field view room in the new section of the hotel.

The bed was comfortable, and not only a view, but also a small balcony.  This would be a treat to watch a game from your own room.  From one of the pictures in the below slideshow you can see the “old” portion of the hotel and imagine how spread out this hotel is circling the cricket grounds.

Bathroom

The bathroom had a sliding door to enter.  The space was okay, however I found the amount of counter space lacking.  The shower area was large, which was handy as it gave me a chance to not hose down the rest of the bathroom.  Although I’m happy there isn’t a shower curtain to stalk you, having no barrier feels like a recipe for a puddle in the whole bathroom.

Amenities

One helpful part of this hotel was that it had a laundry room.  Unlike its counterpart at Silverstone, this one was complimentary.  We easily had enough to run a load of laundry.  In fairness, as part of planning for this trip we did pack our own laundry soap, so I was happy laundry could be done at the hotel and not at a neighbourhood laundromat.

The dryer did try, however fearing that it’s only temperature setting was set to “surface of the sun”, our room ended up resembling a piece of modern art, probably titled “The suitcase zipper failed.”  It didn’t matter as we had clean clothes.

Dinner

We had dinner at the restaurant (it is also the location for the buffet breakfast) and we found the food decent.  Being a new building though, we noticed that the lighting in the restaurant was more on the form side of the form/function equation.  I found parts of the restaurant to be dark, but we were seated in a brightly lit area.

Breakfast

Breakfast was a solid offering of items.  Below is a slideshow of pictures from the buffet.  We had no issue finding options to start our day.

I took a final picture of the grounds as we left the following morning:
