2023.04 Amsterdam and Berlin (Part 7)

We returned to the same hotel that we stayed for one night back in December 2022, this time Little Miss wasn’t under the weather so we were both able to enjoy the hotel.

Hilton Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

This hotel is extremely convenient.  It’s directly connected to Schiphol, so if you heading to a flight, or train, or arriving from either, there is a covered walkway to avoid weather going from either mode of transport to the hotel.  You’ll pass the Sheraton Schiphol hotel during the walk, and will pass above and beside the parking garage.  When you enter the hotel from the walkway you are on the first level, that has several conference and meeting rooms.  Take an elevator or escalator down to the main level where check-in is located.

Check-in was quick, and we were assigned a room on the executive levels of the hotel.

A cool décor item are the lobby level are the screens.  Once you spend a moment looking at them, they are canal and street patterns!  The natural light from the skylights made this area and the elevator lobby on each floor filled with sunlight, provided it’s sunny outside.

On level 1 (or was it 2?) is the access to the gym and pool.  I did hope we’d use the pool, however that didn’t work out based on the time we spent exploring Amsterdam.  You’ll need your hotel card to access the space.  There are change rooms before you make your way to the pool.  Even though the pool area is small, it looked enticing.  I didn’t take any pictures as other guests were using the space when I visited in the hopes of taking pictures.  Below is a slideshow of the fitness area:

Room

We had a King room on one of the executive floors.  In addition, we were given a room that had a view of the airport from our room.

There was a Nespresso machine, and a kettle along with a mini-bar that did have a small space for your items.

The bathroom was a decent size.  The door to the shower did keep most of the water in the enclosure and didn’t spill into the rest of the room.

With one sink, there was plenty of counter space for toiletries.

Breakfast

On the main level is the Bowery Restaurant.  It is the location for breakfast, as the executive lounge opens in the early afternoon.  Additionally, this space does serve food throughout the day, and we had dinner at the restaurant one day.

Each day for breakfast upon arrival, we were greeted quickly and led to an available table.  The open kitchen was a neat feature as it made the space even larger.  Also, with an open kitchen it’s much easier to see when fresh items were being added to the buffet.

Immediately after entering the restaurant, there were coffee and juice machines, along with water, that was all self-serve.  The buffet was comprehensive.  Little Miss was much happier being able to enjoy breakfast during this visit.  We both found no issue finding tasty food to start our day.

Bowery Restaurant

On one of the days we didn’t feel like walking to Schiphol plaza to grab something to eat, and chose to have a meal at the restaurant.

We split a salad to start, I had a burger, and she selected something healthier.  The burger was excellent.  Honestly, everything was well prepared and we were happy with our choice.

Executive Lounge

Thanks to my status with Hilton’s loyalty program we had access to the Executive Lounge.  This lounge opens in the early afternoon, offers soft drinks and light snacks.  During the early evening, I think it was 6-8pm, there were some hot snacks, and complimentary alcohol was available to guests.  The space is predominately one large area, however we spotted this smaller area on your way to the washrooms.  One day we lucked out and were the only ones in this area, it was like our own private living room.  This room was on the opposite end of the lounge where the TV was located, so very little noise made it this far down the lounge.

The lounge is understandably busy when the hot food and alcohol is available in the evening.  In addition to some hot items, there was a cheese board, one or two salads also available.  Throughout the day there were some nuts, and candy.  Below are a few pictures of what was available one evening.

Overall, the available food isn’t enough to be one’s dinner, however it would certainly help to supplement a light meal for some guests.  I enjoyed a few of the local beer ;), and we also discovered our appreciation of Fever Tree.  Their ginger ale is more spiced than ginger ale soft drinks.  I quite liked it.

On the morning of our check-out it was quick and effortless, and there are airport carts located just outside of the hotel that makes your journey to airport check-in seamless, without having to cart and drag your luggage.
