DAILY UPDATE #26 – AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND 2018

Stars, so many stars!

We just made the short walk from our dinner location back to our room for the night and stopped.  We looked up into the night’s sky, and saw something we don’t see at home — the night’s sky.  Not just any night’s sky, but a brilliant night sky devoid of light and air pollution.  The result is nothing short of spectacular.

Uluru

We flew to Ayers Rock Airport this morning and arrived at our resort right by Uluru.  Although both of us were exhausted from a 5am wake-up, we have three things that we realized today:

First, and most importantly, we love the place that is our home for the next two nights.  We love it so much that I understand why the facility recommends three nights to enjoy the stay.

Secondly, the daytime view from our room is outstanding!  Although the internet connection isn’t the greatest, pictures will have to wait.  Give us a break — we’re over 400km away from any decent sized town or city.

Finally, as I started with, the STARS! This bears repeating because I cannot emphasize the view.  When we just stood outside and looked up and wait something impressive appeared — the MILKY WAY!  The night sky is so filled with stars it’s a shame urban folks, like us, aren’t able to appreciate the grandeur of the Cosmos every night.  Our plan tomorrow is to spend a lot more time watching the night’s sky.  I truly hope to have at least one picture that will do justice to what we saw.

Now to temper expectations — do not be surprised if there is no Daily Update tomorrow.  Given our plans for the day, and the interest speed, I might just wait to post until we’re back in Sydney.

This sky is so incredible!
