2018 – Part 43 – Hotel Review of Ibis Budget Auckland Airport
We needed a simple place to stay overnight near Auckland airport. The closest was an Ibis Budget. As we arrived late, it was a good thing that we selected a simple hotel for our night’s stay.
Check-in
We found a parking spot in the surface parking lot without issue. Check-in was quick as we had used a pre-paid rate. We were handed our keys and were off to our room quickly. Elevator access to floors require a room key to unlock the floors. The elevator worked fine and overall the hotel seems fairly new.
Room
This brand of hotel is not new to us. We first visited one in 2017, and this hotel had the same vibe.
Rooms are tiny, however I doubt any hotel guests visiting an Ibis budget expect to spend much time outside of showering and sleeping.
With our late arrival, we repacked our suitcases for our morning flight, had a shower and quickly fell asleep. One feature lacking are electrical outlets near the bed. There was one under the window and for one night we used the chair to place our items and make it work for the one night without issue.
Bathroom
Again, tiny is the key word to summarize the space. Soap is the dispenser by the sink and in the shower. 
It is functional as there is a small space beside the sink to place items. Don’t expect to place many items, as it didn’t take many items for that space to be filled. The shower worked well with enough water pressure and plenty of hot water as desired.
Lobby Area
Sorry for not having any pictures. The lobby has an open area that served as the dining area. I say dining as there were a couple microwaves to compliment the vending machines by the elevators, that provided food options outside of breakfast hours. The space is used to serve breakfast. As we headed to the airport early, we’d skip breakfast at the hotel and had it at the airport.
Overall
This was another short stay, and the hotel performed exactly as expected. Quick check-in and check-out. The room was clean, and for the price it was good. We skipped breakfast as we were up before sunrise to return the rental car and check-in for our flight.
