a short drive

Who am I kidding? We left Canberra today, drove through both New South Wales and Victoria state to end in South Australia this evening. Why? That’s a great question!
The capital of Australia! We were up early to start our day. We are still trying to figure out if our ability to wake up is jet lag, a sign of a good night’s sleep, or our bodies still thinking that we should be getting up and heading to work at that hour. Regardless, it enabled us to see lots of Canberra, however we ran out of energy before we ran out of the list of things to see and do. Here is what we were able to cover:
We bid farewell to the Blue Mountains this morning. We stopped at a much quieter lookout, west of Katoomba and continued west to travel down the mountains and toward Bathurst. After a quick visit we then continued onward to Canberra, our new home for a few days.
Evening from the Blue Mountains. I did have good intentions to post during the 5 hour layover in Jakarta, however our time was spent eating delicious deep fried food, and trying to stay awake. One gentleman in the chillest part of Garuda’s business lounge was sawing logs like a champion.
Our three other flights were good, more about that in proper posts to come. I will tease that I think we had the best meal on an airport ever. Hands down, awesome.
Greetings from KLM Crown Lounge in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport! We are just a few hours away from our longest portion of the journey — over 12 hours to Kuala Lumpur, stopping for crew change and fuel before another 2 hours to Jakarta. This post isn’t going to be a comprehensive post about the journey — my body thinks it’s just after lunch and I had 2-3 hours of sleep so far. My Fitbit disagrees and doesn’t believe I’ve slept at all. At this point of the day, with an hour before boarding, I think the Fitbit is correct.
To help tie you, the reader, over until we actually arrive in Sydney, here a few pictures we’ve already taken along the way in less than 24 hours of traveling.
