2021.12 Germany and christmas markets (part 8) – Hilton Garden Inn, Frankfurt Airport

We spent two nights at this hotel.  Located above the ICE train station at Frankfurt International Airport, one can easily get to the terminal or the train platform without having to be outside.

Location

The Hilton Garden Inn, is one of three hotels that you can currently reach without going outside from the main terminal at Frankfurt International Airport.  The closest hotel is a Marriott, that is probably 2-3 minutes closer to the terminal.  This, and next door, a Hilton, were located in the Squaire.  This is a mixed used building with shops, offices, the two hotels, all built above the Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahn (Frankfurt Airport long-distance train) station.

The main concourse level is one level up from the train platforms, and is connected to the airport terminal.  There are many convenient shops, including a drugstore, grocery store, and a few quick serve restaurants and even a coffee shop.

This proved useful for us as we picked up food one evening to have our own breakfast on the train, and the coffee shop was extremely useful as it provided the ability for Little Miss to grab tea for the train ride.

Check-in

Before we even checked in, my brother gave us so many gifts for family back home that we dropped off a suitcase at the hotel to store on our behalf before heading up to Dusseldorf.  This was handy, as we had so much stuff that not only was the trunk of the rental car full, but the entire space behind our seats was full as well!

On the evening of our check-in it was quick and easy.  There is a small pantry beside the check-in for those who need items, and don’t want to, or can’t, go to the stores nearby.

From there we took one of the 3 elevators up to our room.  The elevators are open so that you can take in the view of the interior atrium of the building.

Room

We had a standard King bedroom.  For an airport hotel, it was exactly what we needed, with enough space for our growing collection of items to take back to Canada.

View towards the entrance door.  First door on the left is a closet, and the second door is the entrance to the bathroom.

Overall size of the room was tiny, and made the one from Mainz almost feel gigantic.  This wasn’t an issue as we didn’t spend much time in the hotel room having a full day planned, and then an early departure for our flight home after check-out.

The bathroom had a well intended shelf that ran along the back of the bathtub.  It was useful, so long as you made sure not to splash water while running the shower.  Temperature, water pressure were good without issue.

Breakfast

Due to our plans of having two early start days, one for a train ride, and the other being our flight home, we did not attempt to have any meal at the hotel.  There was a breakfast option, however I do not recall any of the details, nor what was available.
