2018 – Part 63 – Panoramic views of Sydney

It’s hard to miss the Sydney Tower.  To fans of camping, it appears that a giant stick complete with a marshmallow was placed in the middle of Sydney.  Hosting a buffet restaurant and views of the city we decided to check it out.  If you want to see a lot of pictures, this is a great post to read!

Lunch

Let’s focus on the scenery from the Tower.  It is possible to go to a different level of the Tower just for this.  As we were hungry, we thought it was a good idea to combine the two and have the buffet lunch while enjoying the panoramic views of the city.  Overall, the food was fine, however it’s not a must visit for the food.

The view

From the Tower, all of Sydney is on show.  The day of our visit the skies were pretty clear and gave us lots to watch.

First up, The Opera House was poking out between the office buildings:

Next up, looking west you can easily find the ANZAC bridge, Darling Harbour, and the Maritime Museum:

As we had a leisurely lunch I was interested in how some rooftops were a mix of exclusive spot to relax, or colourful and playful areas:

From this vantage point, it’s obvious to see the vastness of the harbour.  It’s a shame we didn’t experience it on a ferry during our visit.  Here’s a gallery looking from the west towards its entrance in the east: (to be fair there is even more than I pictured below!)

I even spotted a few workers, taking a break but not having any shade to escape the sunny day on offer:

The afternoon sun casts the Tower’s unique shadow over a slice of Hyde Park.

Along Hyde Park, past the Australian Museum was the cathedral, and nearby Art Gallery:

The harbour came complete with military vessels:

And in the distance we could see the airport, and a little closer, Allianz Stadium and the Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground:

Finally, details of buildings and advertising around the Tower:

Filled from lunch, and with lots of pictures we left the restaurant to continue exploring downtown Sydney.
