Day in London

This was one of the two days during our visit that we spent in central London. We had three goals for this particular day:  visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, the British Museum, and attend live theatre.

We headed into the city after breakfast.  Public transit is right in front of the hotel with a bus stop located at the edge of the hotel property. It is only a handful of stops to Hounslow West station where we transferred to the tube for the rest of the trip to our first stop.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel London Heathrow Airport

 

Hotels in London have one consistent attribute – they’re extremely expensive!  As this visit to London included us spending half of our time outside of the city proper, I didn’t see the need to stay in the middle of the city.  This hotel offered a fair trade in its value proposition, affordable and close to what we needed.

2018 Trip Planning

Our trip for 2018 is big.  Big in quantity of flights, in terms of amount of time we have been thinking about this trip.  Big in the amount of time spent planning this trip, and most importantly, big in terms of time for the trip, 5, yes five, weeks to take this trip.  We leave in the middle of April and return to Toronto in late May.  Now, where in the world are we going?

The Flight! Toronto to London

We arrived at the gate as pre-boarding began, and I had enough time to snap a picture before they began regular boarding.  Air Canada boards their planes by zone. Business and frequent flyers board right after the usual family with young children and those requiring assistance boarding, so we were one of the first people on the plane. Sorry for the blurry picture but I was excited that Air Canada was using both jetways for the flight.
