2018 – Part 28 – Launceston to Hobart
After returning from the ANZAC sunrise ceremony and a quick nap, we were up and ready for the rest of the day. The goal: Return to Hobart without having to navigate hairpins or switchbacks.

After returning from the ANZAC sunrise ceremony and a quick nap, we were up and ready for the rest of the day. The goal: Return to Hobart without having to navigate hairpins or switchbacks.
I wanted to check out what occurs during ANZAC Day. However, once I found out that the main ceremony would occur around 6am, the “I’m on vacation” part of my mind did go into overdrive. I’m glad I ignored it and skipped one day of sleeping in.
I was very happy to find the hotel, especially after a long day of driving. The hotel is located across from the City Park.
It wasn’t until we left Hobart that we came across a road sign indicating that the route we were taking was special, we drove Tasmania’s Great Eastern Drive. Even though daylight ran out before we got to Launceston this is a worthwhile route to take.

While planning this trip Amber was certain that she wanted to visit as many zoos as possible to be able to see and pet the animals of Australia up close.
Our first stop on was Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Instead of going as a regular guest, she noted that there was the ability to arrive near their closing time to have a night tour.
